Something that can be heard across the state, across the country, and even across the world. Look Out For Motorcycles is a project where I am focusing on photographing the locations of fatal motorcycle accidents where cars were at fault because they could not see the motorcyclist. On the road, motorcyclists are invisible to drivers, one bad move can end someone’s life. The images that represent these riders are of the location where they lost their life because of a choice made by someone else. Each image is accompanied by the obituary of the respective rider because it is all we have left of this person.
While shooting one of the locations, a homeowner came out and talked to me. She was someone who watched the accident. She showed me the location of where the body had landed as well as the location of where the bike went up in flames. Hearing from this bystander made the project so much more important to me because they told me about the reaction of the driver. The driver of the car was more worried about her knee than she was about the man dying on the sidewalk that she had hit. By turning left too soon, they caused someone to lose their life too soon.
